Hi,

following RequestedDeletions greate SME HA-Cluster Howto i have
setup 5 clusters each 2 nodes at university. my big problem is that
we have - no joke - some power outages each week and not enough money
for usvs. so very often the servers filesystem crashes. my idea is if it's eventually
possible to install ReiserFS or ext3 on SME server? There is a howto for RedHat 7.x:
http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/
somebody tried to install on an journaling filesystem? another idea - i did on the debian 2.2 servers before - to install on a small partition, create a new one, format with reiser and copy the data to the new partition. but under sme it fails because i have big problems to recompile the kernel.
any ideas would be very appreciated :)
by the way thank you again for your greate work RequestedDeletion!

regards
judy

Use UPS. In case of power failures, journaling avoids fs problems but do not protect you against data loss.

I'd go for ext3, simply upgrade to kernel 2.4 and tune2fs to ext3.
It has been discussed on the devinfo, archives at www.mail-archive.com
