Title: Twin NIC's
Post by: Wesley on May 23, 2002, 06:24:55 AM
Can anyone provide info on BIOS settings for installing 2 nic's ?
My bios (documentation and settings I have checked 3x) is assigning the same IRQ to each nic. when linux loads it hangs when starting network. After 20 sec. or so it says OK and continues to load. From the E-Smith admin panel I test the internet access (which doesnt work). After logging as root I run ifconfig and only eth0 shows up ? I have two Linksys LNE100TX cards installed. When I ran setup  it installed OK and when the E-Smith configuration setup ran (after initial setup) it detected both cards. Can anyone provide any hints ?

Thank You in advance for your help

Hi Wesley,

On a lot of mainboards the interrupts for PCI slots a shared in pairs, fx. PCI slot 3 and 4 shares irq 10 etc. So try moving one of the nic's to a different slot. There's a good chance it will solve your problem.

Regards,

Kenneth

Check ya bios and see if it has an option to toggle PNP on/off - try it off if it is currently on - has helped me on occassions.
