Title: Swap signatures not found
Post by: Emiel van Leeuwen on March 06, 2001, 01:55:21 PM
Hi There,

1

I've did a clean install of 4.1rc5 on two 4.3 scsi disks with software raid 1.
During installation I got the message error creating swap on md?.

The rest of the installation went fine. After reboot the swap activation doesn't work (obvious). The swap space according to the mdtab is made on sda1 and sdb1.

The system is now incredible slow and the disks are running wild.
How can I enable the swap space even though the installation failed to do so.

2

I have another spare scsi disk which contains a linux filesystem which I want to use as data disk but when the system boots it displays:
unable to open initial console and freezes.

Please advise

Emiel

The 4.1 release candidate series no longer exist since the
official release

Please install 4.1.1 to check if the problem still occurs.

Downloads, as always, are available from the ftp site:

ftp://ftp.e-smith.net/pub/e-smith/e-smith-4.1.1/

Of course, you should check the mirrors sites (list can be found at http://www.e-smith.org/downloads/) first to save yourself some time.

If you still have the rc5 .iso around, check out the howto section of the developers' site to learn a little about rsync - which will also save you heaps of time.

Regards,

Jason
