Maybe someone can give me a good advice.
I have e-smith 5.12 just installed to my network as domaincontroller, DHCP,DNS, and fileserver-printserver for windows machines (roaming profiles). Filesharing is working perfectly..
But If I configure networked printer(hp LJ1200 on win98) in e-smith, it doesn't want to work.
(Idea is that i want all printers have to be used throw server, even networked ones..):
in 192.168.0.4 (win98) is installed and shared laserjet1200, shared as "hpprinter1".
Server is configured printer name =hpprinter2 , host= 192.168.0.4 , remote printer name= hpprinter1.
ClientWindows mashines is configured to use //server/hpprinter2.
Connection between ClientWindows & server seem to be ok.(in windows it shows that test page is printing...)
But e-smith server have problem with connecting to 192.168.0.4.

Can you ping the laser printer from your sme server?
Rob.

yes , host with printer is answering correctly for pinging, and smbclient -L show even all shares in there, included printer.

The problem isn't with the sharing of the printer. It is with the LPD server on SME. It isn't trying to print to a windows share it is trying to print to a network printer. If you had a 2000/XP box you could install unix printing services and get a network queue that is the same name as the windows queue.

P.S. I'm working on an addin that will allow SME to print to Windows Shares. Will let you know when it is done.
