Title: Webmail URL
Post by: Andre Courchesne - Consu on May 28, 2002, 05:50:07 PM
Hi all,

How can I go about changing the webmail url? By default it if www.myserver.com/webmail and I want it to be something like www.myserver.com/wm

Reason? From the office our IT is blocking any URL that has mail or looks like a mail interface so people can not get their personal e-mail (which is legitimate and I don't have anything against that), but... :-)

I have an e-smith running at home which I can use as an e-mail gateway..

  Thanks,

hi

You can add a new alias in apache conf,
you just have to modify the right file in
/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf/

Alias        /wm  /home/httpd/html/horde/imp

I think it is easier to add a DNS entry to point at this new naming convention and leave the e-smith Apache config alone.

Whomever handles DNS for your home site can make the change for you and push it out.

I am fond of http://www.easydns.com

as it allows flexibility and control of my domain without having to send mail to an ISP and praying they do what you asked, etc.

Regardless, create a new DNS entry and have it point at the stock e-smith URL and you are done.

Hey Heho,

In this same regards do you know how to change address so its not https://sme/server-manager .... so that I can change it to something really long that internal people would guess. Kind of a alias but have server-manager disabled.
