Title: Freeswan
Post by: Evan on June 03, 2002, 01:09:08 AM
Hi all,

I have recently configured 2 E-smith boxes with freeswan.  Thanks to the How to by Netsourced.

I can ping across the networks, however I cannot files share between them.  Is there another configuration step that I have to do?

Thanks in advance.

You woulnt be able to see the machines across the link in either direction (different subnets). You should however be able to view the machines by putting in their ip addresses rather than their netbios names.

So long as the machines keep the same addresses, you could map the network drives. Samba allows for WINS proxy which gets around this if you care to play around with it.

Thanks, however I tried using smbmount with the IP address, and correct username and password.  No go. I get an error connecting.

Not sure with respect to trying to mount shares from one sme to another (or windows machines) - never tried it.

Can you see the shares across the link from say client machine to remote client machine (using ip adressess as oposed to netbios names)
