Title: Mamboserver Howto request.
Post by: Andy MacDonald on June 05, 2002, 04:16:28 PM
This is a trolling post to let the more esteemed and educated here know about mambo server http://www.mamboserver.com/
in the hope that one of them will become infatuated with this content management system, and install it themselves. Therefore giving them at least the knowledge needed to write a howto for it.
I am skilled in the art of following directions, but flawed in the area of knowing what to do without making a hash of it. The installation instructions are brief, but require someone who has a clue. Me being out of that particular definition.

NIce find, installed it into an ibay with no problems...dont even know if a HOW-TO is necessary on this one.

only thing was i created the database (mambo) ahead of time then ran setup and let it do its thing.

No kidding??? I've actually been thinking of switching back (arrrrgh!) to FreeBSD because I couldn't get mambo to install.

For the sake of the idiots out there (um, that'd be me), can you give me a line-by-line hash of how you set up your database?

Many thanks!

You do not need to do the following that was in my HOWTO;

Add a Mambo user (ie. mambouser) on your SME via the server-manager and set a password (mambopw).

Other than that it goes in in 5 minutes.

Thanks Muchly, Chaloner
I am an avid reader of the forums here. I can't understand how I missed something like that.
Hey Greg, don't admit to idiocy. It's cluelessness. Idiots can't learn. (or accept that micro$oft has alternatives) :)
