Title: internal network nic card
Post by: Nate on March 09, 2001, 09:28:02 PM
I set up the server last night everything set up correctly and easily it recognized my hardware just fine the problem -- the nic card for my network does not seem to work, when I plug my cable modem into the external network nic card the lights turn on on the card and it connects to the internet.  Now when I plug a line into the other nic card that is connect to my hub the lights don't turn on.  So I unplug the line from the cable modem and plug it into the internal nic card and the lights turn on, is there something wrong with my nic cards or my config?  Why don't the lights turn on the nic when I plug in the cat5 line?

What happens if you use the same cat5 cable to connect the cable modem to your external nic?  What happens if you use the cable connecting the cable modem to your external nic to connect your hub to your internal nic?

Is the hub powered on and plugged in?

Is the cat5 a cross-over cable or a straight-through?
