Title: snort-mysql question - high CPU usage
Post by: Gary Parker on June 13, 2002, 09:18:09 PM
Hi all....
I just installed and configured snort/acid/guardian as per Ari Novikoff HOWTO on this site and it all worked nicely bar the service status problem mentioned on another post here recently.

Now running top shows the snort-mysql process constantly using 10-15% CPU, this seems like quite a bit of horsepower on my twin 200MHz PPro system.

Is this normal bearing in mind that there's currently very little traffic going in and out of the system...

Nope, that isn't normal.  Mine is normal.

Yeah....left it over night and it seems to have settled down now.

Out of interest, Ted, what is the CPU usage of the process on your system when it's idling?
