Title: Satellite on SME Server
Post by: Jeffrey Fauver on June 16, 2002, 03:51:24 AM
I posted this earlier, but forgot to include a topic. :o)

I use a Direcway 2-way satellite system for our Internet connection. Problem is that the drivers are Windows drivers. This causes me to have to "waiste" a perfectly good machine, using it as a dedicated box simply to keep the satellite alive. Then I use Internet Connection Sharing in order to pass the Net along to the SME server. From there the server passes it out to the LAN. This makes for a problematic setup for the server.
Does anyone have an idea/suggestion that might help me to get both the satellite and SME server into one box? Anything would be better than this!
Thank you.
Jeffrey

You may want to send and email to the Direcway 2-way satellite system manufacture requesting a Linux driver.

A driver exist but is sold inside a box www.helius.com and the price is $ 1995.00.  Is Caldera based (they are from Utah) and the box will perform most of SME (less Samba).  The product was annouced on June 11,2002.
