Title: backing up my hostnames and static IP's
Post by: David Trask on June 17, 2002, 09:06:48 PM
Can anyone tell me what file I need to backup to save all of my hostnames that I've entered for servers, printers, and airports....I don't want to have to re-enter all that data if the server crashes or if I have to redo something.  I looked in the templates for dhcpd.conf, but I can't figure out which fragment is the one to save.  I also looked at /home/e-smith/hosts, but that appears to be more of a machine generated file.  Any ideas?

/home/e-smith/hosts
/home/e-smith/domains
/home/e-smith/configuration
/home/e-smith/accounts
and maybe more

contain all the data you input, the data gets expanded in a myriad of ways

my backup rpm, which you can use, should get everything
you can exclude users/ibays/primary for a small backup
i like the rarlinux/winrar combination for ease of use,
they are both trailware so you can try them out first
