Title: does backup span tapes?
Post by: BretF. on June 18, 2002, 02:03:01 AM
I know these are silly questions, but I cannot find the answers here:

Does the tape backup span tapes and prompt for another tape?
Is there a simple way to shut off Sat. and Sun. backups?
Is there any way to verify a tape back aside from this one:

Thanks alot in advance.

To the best of my knowledge, the answers are no, no, and no.

The way to stop running Sat/Sun backups is to create a cron.d template fragment with the specifics of what you want to schedule. A look at the existing fragment, and "man cron" should help you.

Ok.

Is there any way to configure flexbackup to span tapes?

Thanks again.

As Dan noted, no, there isn't a way. There are commercial products out there that may do what you want.

Actually, Des, there is even free software which will do it.  Mondoarchive is one, at http://www.microwerks.net/~hugo.
