Greetings!
I try to set up an ADSL-Connection. I have an alcatel Speedtouch modem and an e-smith 5.1.2. Here in Austria i must use pptp for the adsl connection and not pppoe. If i try to setup the connection in the admin-panel it doesnt work.
I think i must configure the server with a static external IP (10.0.0.140). If i do so, i can ping the adsl-modem (10.0.0.138). But how can i make a pptp connection to the modem? I must connect the modem and provide uswername and password.
can someone help me?
Thanks, Ewald

SME 5.1.2 does not support ADSL connection using PPTP out of the box.
In France we had the same problem with France Telecom (now they're using PPPoE). If you can read french, you should have a look at http://www.grand-pa.dyndns.org/ , which describe how to modify SME Server in order to make PPTP connections possible.

If you are familiar with linux, you can try using Babelfish or alternately you can search on the net for a translation service.

Ewald,
What kind of Alcatel Speedtouch do you have?
In holland we have also de Speedtouch home version but whith a littele key you can change it in a pro version. Then you modem's log's automatic into the ADSL network of your ISP. And you have only give you SME box a IP 10.0.0.xxx whatever whit as gateway 10.0.0.138 for the modem.
Let me hear it and I send you the information what you must do on the modem to change it.
Grtz
