Title: How stable is SME 5.5
Post by: Graham Harris on June 21, 2002, 08:39:26 AM
Hi All,

I've been using SME 5.2 for about 6 months now,  EXCELLENT product.

I have a simple setup, 2 workstations to my sme server to my DSL connection.  Personal use.
I'm the boss.

Sometimes BETA means relatively UNSTABLE and sometimes it means relatively STABLE.   Would SME 5.5 be suitable for me?

Any comments?

Thanks.

Graham

Hi all.

I agree E-SMITH V5 + update 4 patch, is very stable product.
I am running in Intel P4-1.5 / 256MB / 120G + mirror / 2xNic
T1 with router.
This system non-stop running over 6 month as a file server and Firewall, it never have problem, never stop, never hang, never service stop
very very stable.
it is a very very good product.
But if it can support Chinese lang. it will be more great......I am Chinese.

Graham, 5.5 is still in beta as you know.  If you're looking for stability, it'd probably be best to wait for it to be released (maybe give it a couple of weeks after release to shake down any bugs).  I think they're expecting it to be released in the next few weeks.

Dan,

Thanks for the comments,  I wasn't aware that a new release is imminent.

May as well wait.....

Cheers,

Graham
