Post by: Sven on June 24, 2002, 04:50:50 PM
Hy all,

@first thx4help

I installed an e-smith sme server v5, everything works fine !
but i can't see my own website, it's because the domain name
of the sme server is the same like my website. So everytime when
i wanne see my site, the server show his empty standard site.
My website has no own ip address :-( and i tried with the E-Smith-Manger
some options, but no effect.
I need some help !!!

Hi Sven

I presume that your e-smith server is the DNS server that you are using. The E-Smith automatically adds name resolution for a WWW host in your domains that you have configured on the server.

Therefore if you server has a private address eg 192.168.1.1, then www.yourdomain.com will resolve to 192.168.1.1, which is in most cases not also your actual web servers address.

If this is the case then what you should do if navigate to the "Hostnames and addresses" of the manager panel, and remove the "WWW" records for your domain.

You could modify them if you wish, and set the IP address for WWW to the actual IP address(Public one) of the web server where your web site resides.

I hope this helps...

Regards

Paul
