I am going to put my SME box in front of my Exchange box. I have the directions to have the mail forwarded to the Exchange server. That's pretty straight forward.
My problem is, If my Exchange box is set to not allow relaying of messages, will that continue in the new setup or is there something I have to do with SME to facilitate this?
I am running SME 5.1.2Update2 and Exchange 5.5
Also, is there anyway for SME to filter SPAM in this setup?
Thanks,

Qmail does not allow relaying by default, so you don't need to do anything special.
For SPAM filtering, I can recommend Darrel May's solution at http://myezserver.com - go to the "software" link & it's the third one down.

Robert,
If your mail is coming into the sme server on SMTP then you could do the following.
Disable qmail with this.
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/service-control-0.0.1/
Forward port 25 to your exchange server with this.
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/portforwarding-0.0.1/
But simpler would be to give Exchange the ip address of your sme server and tell it to accept all mail from that address.
All the best,
Julian Luton

I want to thank everyone for their help. Got everything working with the mail delegate from the server manager.
Checked for open-relay and everything worked perfect.
Again, thanks alot.
