I doubdt it would ever go far in the dev-wish list phorum so I would like to post it here:
Is it possible to include custom blades not supported by Mitel under their Blades panel within Server-Manager? The MP3 unsuported blade was noce but many other features would be much more usefull: Web and network monitoring, vacation, MySQL admin, port forwarding panel and any other panel based feature that can either be enabled or not, etc...
Many unsupported packages are available from known sources that could be easily announced and installed this way without the hassle of manually look for them and possibly screw-up the install.
SME is getting quite good at standardizing installation and modification through templates and it would make sense to have some of the packages available at MyEZServer also available as an unsuported blade from KNOWN SOURCE. I am not talking about having just any package available but just known packages that we all could use to expand on the basic SME installation.
Naturally, those blades would be installed at the admin's own risk... Blah! Blah!...
Some modification of the blade panel allowing the insertion of an additional blade source would surely not be too difficult for some of the experienced users around this phorum. It may also be a worthwile challenge!
Possibly a new "Blade Sources" that would allow a look-up of available blades from other sources?
Any takers?
Serge.

The issue is not that we need to be able to specify different sources for blades, as Mitel will host any and all contribs. The issue is that we need documentation about how to create and submit blades. They've said that recent changes to their NOC will make this process much easier; hopefully they will get around to providing some documentation on the process soon.

I've trying to work on something related.
I took the RPM Manager RPM available as a contributed module and I am trying to make it into a panel for Server-Manager so that you can upload suitable RPMs and apply them to enhance the server-manager.
For example, you could install the BackupNow, RestoreNow, or similat RPMs this way.
I got to the point where I get a list of available RPMs but I fear my PERL talent is not up to snuff.
It seems that no matter what I try, I can't even get a file to upload. Needless to say, installing the RPM is nowhere close.
I believe this relates to the difference between all the examples I look into (which are HTML files using PHP code) and the fact that the SME 5.5 panels of the server-manager use PERL.
I wonder if anyone else ever looked into this.
Anyone?
Serge.

I came across a "how to" somewhere on this site last week (not in my cache) , which explained that the rpm's could be saved, at a certain location which would then be made visible via the "blades" . and I can't remember where it was.....
