Title: No Samba access after firewall installation
Post by: Jesper Bille Haun on July 12, 2002, 03:10:05 AM
I have installed a firewall (SmoothWall) and moved my e-smith server to the DMZ or orange line. Everything but Samba works after this.

Before this my e-smith server (server only) and my pc where on the same subnet. Now they are on two different subnets. I have added the DMZ subnet to "local networks" in server manager. But that dosen't help.

I still haven't got access to Samba - or the workgroup at all.

Maybee something is cached..?

This is part of the log file from Samba and my pc before I changed it's name.

  host name/name mismatch: pc-00065 != pc-00065.haun.dyndns.org

Have you added the Subnet your PC is on to the "local networks"?  I belive Smoothwall allows access to all ports on the orange interface from the green interface, so it sounds like a E-Smith thing.

I just tried to use the IP number like \192.168.0.x\Sharename

That worked...

I will experiment with the other advice from that thread.
