Title: SME 5.1.2 and Windows NT 2000
Post by: Damjan on July 12, 2002, 06:31:46 PM
Hi ,

I have noticed that I recived following messagess in the log:

Jul 12 08:05:02 e-smith named[1315]: denied update from [10.0.0.2].1830 for "test.xxx" IN

( test.xxx is just for example but in reallity it is registred domain which SME takes care off. )
The IP ( 10.0.0.2 ) address is from MS SBS 2000 server which works as a domain controler ( test ). The SME is setup not to be domain controler.
But the fact is that after couple of this  messagess connection to interent stops working.
I have to restart SME.

I got the same messages also from PC workstation which
has different IPs.
Jul 12 08:05:02 e-smith named[1315]: denied update from [10.0.0.x].1830 for "test.xxx" IN

Does anybody got something like that in the log?
What is the solution for smooth integration of MS SBS and SME ?

Best regrads
Damjan

Hi

This is because of ddns (dynamic dns). On win2000, lan, tcp/ip properties, advanced, dns down "Register the conn..." is marked.

This mean, that a ddns request is send when an ip-adress is ovtained.

2 solutions: remove "register.." or make your dns accept ddns (prob. a bad idea on a sme-server).
