Mailing from Outlook I get the following error message
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'abc@mitel512.net'. Subject '', Account: 'smtp.mitel55.com', Server: 'smtp.mitel55.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
the example is mailing from a 5.5 server to a 5.12 server both are public email servers -- I've searched this forum for rcpthosts -- how do I make all mail recipients valid?

Sounds like a mail relay problem. Search for "mail relay".
In 5.1.2 you could add the ip of the sending client/subnet to the "local networks" and it would allow relaying from there. 5.5 may have something similar.
I think 5.5 supports authenticated smtp, so you might look into that.

I run 5.1.2 with Nathan Fowler's pop-before-smtp script and it works great. Won't work on 5.5 though.
