Title: HELP!! invalid or corrupt kernel image msg
Post by: Steve on March 16, 2001, 09:40:35 PM
I downloaded and burned the ISO of 4.1.1 and then made a boot floppy and when I try to install, after I type ACCEPT I get the message 'Invalid or corrupt kernel image.' I have got to get this baby up, and I can't install directly from cdrom on this machine.

thanks

Try "accept", rather than "ACCEPT".

I initially had trouble installing on an older PC.  I had to record the CD at 1x speed to get it to install properly.

Steve,

You didn't burn this ROM on a Mac did you? I had a lot of problems using Adaptec Toast 4 to burn the image. I could mount it on a desktop, but no matter how I tried to burn it I always got the same error you are getting. I ended up burning it on an old PC with a trial version of Nero. Best of luck.

Richard,

I finally found where they had the burning instructions, and saw how they did it from easy cd creator and did that. the next day the demo came in the mail.

I suppose you got it hooked up with nero, so you should be good to go for now.

The best thing is that I have got it up and running in a beta environment and man is it slick! what a nice way to administer. I have already got so many people asking me what I am using to serve... I have still got a hell of a lot to learn, but I am so happy it is up and running! (and so is my girlfriend)
