Title: Proxy Server not working correctly.
Post by: James Shields on July 14, 2002, 01:39:34 PM
SME 5.1.2 - external proxy on SME server set to "proxy.cache.telstra.net:3128", client PC's set to "proxy.shields.net.au:3128"

ISP (Telstra Bigpond) provide a proxy server at reduced rates. If I use the above configuration, for some reason all my download traffic is not using the ISP proxy cache farms, and I am paying full rates.

If I set my client PC's to point directly at the ISP proxy cache, then I am getting the benefits of the reduced rates (& faster downloads).

Can anybody shed some light on this ? I can confirm the SME server is not using the ISP proxy by checking my statistics. Also, how much space is allocated on SME server for caching and can this be altered ?

Thanks for your advice.
