I downloaded the latest SME server and when I tried to intall, it reported an internal error when it was checking to see if it an older version was on the hd. I saved the report thing and this is it:

I dont think it was a bad download because the md5sum check was ok.
Does anyone in here understand the error report and know how to debug this problem?
Thanks

Did you burn the CD using Nero, also do you have an SMP setup? I had a similar thing happen and thought it was related to Nero but I reburnt the CD using Adaptec and got the same result. It seems like it only happens when upgrading an SMP version of E-smith. Fresh install goes fine.

thanks for the reply.
No I used adaptec and also no Im not upgrading but SmoothWall is intalled - could the presence of smoothwall have an adverse effect like this on the installation?
What is SMP?
How do I do a fresh install?

Did you submit it to bugs@e-smith.com yet?

Yeah, they said it was a bad CD burn.
But what I did was delete all the previous partitions on the drive using fdisk (win98). And it installed perfectly : )
Thanks for all your help.
