Title: DHCP problem!!!
Post by: Luciano Terra on July 24, 2002, 01:43:04 AM
Hello everyone,

I have installed two sme 5.5 box as I am showing to you bellow:

a) sme1 server and gateway 2 3com (eth0,eth1), 3com cable modem!

b) sme 2 server and gateway 2 rtl8139 (eth0,eth1), dlink cable modem!

The ISP for both systems is the same!

The problem is with the DHCP, which leases the same IP for both systems.

Ending, I'd like to say that I have already changed the interface cards but it didn't fix.
So, both of systems are configurate to send MAC and receive the IP's.

Thanks.
Note: Sorry for my basic english.

I had a similar problem. Different in that I used one cable modem to get 2 ips that run into two different SME boxes. One would steal the other's ip. I tried many things. Tried getting a windows box to get an ip and then use the nic in one of the sme boxes. In the end, I got it going by using dhcp with nic to get one address, and account name to get the other.

This worked. For account name I just invented one such as C-123456.

Hope it works for you.
