Title: Anyone add custom zone file entries to DNS?

All,

My server is in a building that wasn't networked all that smartly, and as a result we've determined that the only way for my box to send mail to another in-domain building will be by adding a host to the BIND zone files.

Anyone got a HOWTO or suggestions?

You want to add a host in the BIND zome files of wich one?

If its the SME box.. then use the Hostnames tab in Server Manager.
if its another Linux / Unix box then you have to edit the files manually..

Usually the files are in:


/var/named/

somwhere in there will be files for the forward and possibly the reverse DNS
there is a full set of DNS how-to's to help you over at www.linux.org
