Title: VPN/PPTP port forwarding
Post by: Robert Field on July 29, 2002, 04:34:48 PM
I am trying to allow Win2K clients to connect to a SME 5.1.2 server using VPN.

I have an ADSL connection going through a D-Link DSL500 router.  I have forwarded port 1723 but can not get a connection,  All other port forwarding works fine.

Do I have to change/setup anything apart from PPTP on the SME server.

Thanks

Robert

I had the same problem, and I'm still not sure why this worked, but enabling the NetBEUI protocal on the Win2k client seemed to do the trick - I installed that, and my PPTP VPN works perfectly.  I can't guarantee it will work for you, but it's worth a try....

I have this problem too.
But I am using CISCO PIX501
the client can connect with the SME VPN server
but cannot pass the Auth.
After I enable Protocol 42 in the PIX, it works.................
of course, you must enable TCP 1723 too.
