Hi all,
i have setup two domains (each clustered with the great HA-Howto from RequestedDeletion) at university: dom-staff and dom-student. each domain is in an different subnet connected with a router.
now the question is if it´s possible to choose on the clients on which domain to logon?
i have seen this in another department with only winnt servers. the clients can choose different domains during logon.
is this a winnt only feature or possible with samba (on sme-server) to?
tia and best regards

a colleague from the windows front showed me that under winnt domain1 must
trust domain2. he said that it works with samba too. i tried it with the following
command (on domain1) smbpasswd -j domain2 - at this time without success.
There is an interresting howto on:
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/samba-tng.html
if i get it working you´ll here from me.
best regards

hi,,
actually if you are using win2000 or xp machines you can set it up on both machines,,providedd that you supply all the requirements like username,,domain,,workgroup,,,e-smith is functioning like windows NT 4.0 ,,,just define your correct entries,,after defining your workstation will shutdown and it requires you to log on to whatever domain youve set-up ....

Hi Judy,
as you can see from the URL you provided, its about samba tng ( the next generation ) - a samba split off which focuses on domaincontroller stuff.
SME uses "normal" samba where - as far as I know - domain trusts are not implementet yet.
