Title: Copy and Paste from terminal
Post by: Lloyd Keen on August 10, 2002, 01:15:59 PM
Whats the best way to copy from one file (my pub key in /etc/ipsec.secrets) and paste into another (/home/e-smith/configuration) using the terminal without stuffing things up.

Use Midnight Commander, a Norton Commander clone.  It is already installed on your SME Server (E-Smith).

At the prompt type :  MC and then press enter.

You will find a million other uses for it.  copy files, delete files, navigation, edit files....

Read the help file once you are in the program.

Hi,

If you just want to copy a bit of text from one terminal window to another the the simplest thing to do is this.

Highlight the text you need in window 1
Position the cursor where you need the text in window 2
Right click your mouse in window 2
done....

Yours,
Julian
