Title: e-smith as firewall
Post by: Sergei Slobodov on March 23, 2001, 08:12:55 AM
I like e-smith so much, I decided to drop my existing NT file server in favor of e-smith. My question is, how secure is it to connect e-smith gateway directly to the Internet, compared with a dedicated firewall. I'm currently using Coyote Linux at one location and GNAT Box firewall at another. Does anyone know if e-smith is relatively secure compared to those two?

I know there is a disclaimer somewhere that "e-smith is not a firewall", however it seems like it almost is.

Any opinions?

Thanks,

It clearly states in the manual that e-smith now qualifies as a firewall.  Earlier versions than 4.1.1 did not.
