Title: E-smith as time server
Post by: Paul Chubb on March 23, 2001, 10:38:02 AM
Hi,
I have e-smith attached to a ntp server in Australia. The Date command under root login is correctly showing both time and zone offset ie zone matches my location and the time is right for this zone. However from a win95 client

net time \moses

(moses is the server) returns the wrong time showing 14 hours in the past. I have tried setting the server back to UTC with similar results. What have I got wrong?

Thanks in advance

Paul

UTC-timezone is the same as Greenwich/GMT. This is the local time on the zero meridian, over England. You should change your time zone to Australia (probably GMT+14 :-)) and all things will be correct.

Both timezones - e-smith server and also win95 client - have the correct time zone which is Australia/NSW (UTC+10).

Thanks for the help
