Title: Dial-up configuration problem
Post by: Bob King on August 27, 2002, 04:27:38 AM
We recently relocated and can no longer use ADSL. I reconfigured our SME box from a dedicated Internet connection to a permanent dial-up connection. Our permanent IP address also changed but I cannot figure out how to change that on the server using the console setup program or server-manager. When I “review configuration” in server-manager it shows the old IP address.

The DNS change has propagated and name resolution is correct, showing the new IP address.

Everything internal seems to work and we can browse the Internet and send email. Externally our web site is no longer available and we cannot receive email.
I can establish a secure connection to port 22 and login as either root or admin.
I can telnet to port 25 but attempts to telnet to port 80 or 110 all fail.

Can someone please tell me how to change the IP address on the SME server?

Your ISP should be doing this for you already; they control the IP address you are given on a dialup link.

Thanks Charlie.
I knew that but there is some kind of a problem.
The ISP says their side is working fine.

The only thing that is not working now is the web server on the external interface (it is working internally).
