I installed a satellite receiver card for Internet access (from http://ifost.org.au). The satellite connection works like a charm, but ever since I installed the drivers I can't connect to either HTTP or HTTPS server on this box from the local network any more. Lynx on the server itself still connects, still lets me access the web based admin console. Why?
The only clue found in the logs is:
[Mon Aug 26 22:19:53 2002] [crit] (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to port 443
However, probing, I could not find the offender. The drivers are not affecting port 443 at all. SSH still works.
Anybody familiar with this problem?

have you tried to manually start the httpd?

I have also installed the package to get my sat card up and running and now my http site does the same thing aswell as server manager. i have restarted but it still wont allow me to connect. Anyone have any idea's? also i would like to know how to set a permanent ip address up for my modem to dial in. any takers?
Cheers.

I know this is a year old but thought I would add some info for reference:
rm /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf/35ListenSatellite80
rm /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf/35SSL00ListenSatellite443
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
/usr/sbin/apachectl graceful
