Any help would be good.
I am new to e-smith. I work a lot with perl scripts and the likes, and i need to add permissions easily. Usually i just set them through ftp programs such as cute ftp. I keep getting the
550 chmod not allowed on FILENAME
Any ideas??????
i have tried telnet, but i dont really know what i am doing in telnet?
Thanx

That is correct
You need to edit /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/proftpd.conf/05DisallowChmod
change
AllowChmod false
to
AllowChmod true
-
Thank You. Ill try that.
Just dont know how to edit stuff. (telnet???)
I am Linux Stupid!!!!
but am trying

I have since tried changing DiasallowChmod file, but still wont let me chmod
-
Ok, sorry
missed previous message :-)
But here's a story...
Add a virtual bay (you know how, don't you)? and try again...
If it works, delete the bay
This is to make sure E-Smith will use the template for building a new proftpd.conf

you're a legend. Works fine........
Thanx Heaps
