Title: ppp & network access
Post by: Scott on September 06, 2002, 12:34:36 PM
I have setup my machine as a stand alone server and have setup ppp (not through any server manager console, my own scripts) to allow dial-in. I can dial-in but the dial in client can only see the server and vica-versa.

I only have a single NIC in the server and want it's LAN to be able to see the dial-in client and vica-versa. Is there a firewalling rule that sets the ppp conection as not safe? Where are the ip-chains scripts templates located?

If that is the case I should just be able to remove the relevant ones and the kernel should bridge the NIC with the ppp?

What do you mean as "see" ?? Does a ping work through the server -with ipaddress?? If this works and you want to use names then you will have to use the host file on your dialin pc.....

Hi again,

There was a "stray" tar.gz archive left in a template-directory. It made a mess. It's over now. Sorry tog bug you.

See = ping.
ie I can dial in and the server can ping the client and visa-versa but the client cannot ping the LAN.
