Title: Decoding /var/log/messages
Post by: Jack McCauley on March 29, 2001, 10:05:54 PM
Does anyone know of a reference that will allow me to decode the entries in the messages file? Specifically I want to understand messages like these:

Mar 28 13:34:35 mfsi1267 kernel: Packet log: denylog DENY eth0 PROTO=17 192.168.2.6:137 192.168.2.255:137 L=96 S=0x00 I=0 F=0x0000 T=128 (#1)

Thanks

Answering my own question.  While looking for answers online to my question, I discovered this site.  http://www.freesoft.org/CIE/index.htm  Thought it might be helpfull to someone else.
