Title: Restore and the updates are gone
Post by: Ronald on September 20, 2002, 12:30:15 PM
Hi everybody,
I've made a Backup to desktop and create a Reinstallation disk.

My Produktivbox is a sme 5.5 with update1+2, imp3.1, horde,kronoltih etc.

After Restore the the backupfile to a new disk all updates where gone.
No imp3.1, no kronolith nothing.

What's going wrong? The userdata where all right, no problem.

Please help, it is not so fine to burn a ghostimage everytime.

Ron

If you are restoring to a disk with a clean instal of sme, then you will need to instal any extra rpms you had previously installed. The data for the programs should be restored though.

Thanks Ray,
it seems to have a lot of work for restoring.

I have here a ghost-image with all updates, configuration-files and extra software.
No user data are available. It' only the modified system.
What's happen after restore the ghost-image and then restore the normal "backup to desktop" file.
Are the Updates still active or gone?

The updates will be there.  This is actually a pretty efficient way of doing things.

Our standard advice is for people to store any add-on software packages in an i-bay, and then re-apply them to the new system after the restore. Check each add-on for compatibility with the new SME version first.
