Hi all
I have recently installed a new SME5.5 box for a client and like the dutiful IT guy applied all the latest updates.
Once at the client site I proceed to restore the client data by using the 'smeserver.tgz' file created on the old system (it was upgraded to 5.5 prior to backup to minimise any dramas - or so I thought!).
The restore process gets as far as letting me specify the file location and when I click restore it comes up with the old HTML error about page not found??? Nothing is restored.
In the end I re-installed 5.5 from scratch and ran the restore - worked fine. I am now wary of applying the Updates again incase the Backup/Restore function is trashed again; I want to apply them for security!
Updates were applied as per Blade (for 1) and the instruction on this site for 2.
Any thoughts on what the issue may be

When you access server manager try using
http://servername/server-manager
I noticed that verify a desktop backup file did not work with other ways (URLs) of accessing server manager

Which particular other URLs did you have problems with? If any of them appear in the User Guide but don't work, please let bugs@e-smith.com know.
Thanks

Tried the changes suggested by Ray with no luck.
I decided to reinstall from scratch and try again. This time I ran the restore BEFORE the update routine and the restore function worked.
Thinking all was happy and right with the world and I was being smiled upon beatifically frm above I proceeded to run the update process - no probs (seemingly).
Heres the gotcha tho. In webmail I have all my messages nicely restored but there are no address books. I searched this list for a fix and came up with:
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /home/httpd/html/horde/turba/config/sources.php
but this doesn't fix it; I can't attach stuff to a mail message either.
At this juncture I am probably going to dump the messages out to Outlook on the workstation and then do a clean build (again) and not restore any data as I beleive its the restore process that is messing me around. Before I do this I am hoping some other knowledgable soul can give me a heads up on a possible solution!
Any idea???

From bugs at http://www.e-smith.org/bugs/index.php3?op=showBug&bugID=77
Do
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /home/httpd/html/horde/turba/config/sources.php
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/restart-httpd-full
But maybe thats what you found already
