Post by: Michael Maggard on September 26, 2002, 03:24:32 AM
Every so often folks report problems saving & reading Photoshop & Quark files on SME servers from Macs using AppleTalk. Well Netatalk 1.5.5 was released yesterday and it lists fixing those problems as the new feature.

Has anyone tried to upgrade and see if this really fixes Quarks problems?  If I have time I will do it and make a FAQ on the process - that will not happen very soon however.

I forced the update to install.  Quark never failed in about 30 minutes of attempting to get errors as I normally do.  However - obviously this brute install broke a LOT of things.  Basically, I now have one wide open share to this test machine.
I am not knowledgable enough to create my own RPM that will do this elegantly.  I hope that knowing it works well (in my realworld tests) will promp someone to spend some time on it.  Better yet - a Netatalk update blade would be SWEET.
