I currently have an SME 5.5 server running on an Intel Celeron 1700 (Socket 478), with 256MB DDR RAM. My install is slightly modifed, with the inclusion of a 3Ware 6410 RAID controller, with 2 IBM 40GB Deskstar Hard Drives mirrored.
Can I replace the CPU with an Intel Pentium 4 2.0Ghz (Socket 478) without having to reload the SME software ?

I've updated the motherboard and chip in one of my PC's running Redhat with no problem, It detected the changes on bootup, made them and it was just that easy. Unlike when I did it on my W2K PC and I ended up reinstalling the OS and the apps.

What do you mean about 'Reloading' ... Re-instal ??
Changes the CPU doesn't need to re-install software (OS).
You only must check your new CPU recognized by your Mainboard ( properly installed new CPU )
