Title: help with user accounts
Post by: Tim Perreault on October 17, 2002, 08:38:01 PM
How do I go about changeing ver 5.5 to allow a period in a user name.
we use pc names for generic accounts.

example: pc.billing5

I was able to do it with earlier versions.

Thanks

Actually we use win nt for the pc's and they have generic accounts for people that don't have a domain account from the main hospital. This way all users can share data in their departments. The pc's are called pc.?????? whatever. so that is the generic account name. If a user has a domain account then they login with that, if not they login locally with the local pc name. The main hospital frowns on things like a linux server (and anything out of their MS standard), but we are only affiliated with them so I get away.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. If not I guess we can just use a different naming convention but we already have about 250 pc's named that way.

Thanks

You used to be able to have periods in user account names in 4.1.2, but not in 5.1.2 or 5.5.
