Hi there
When trying to create a mail account to a 5.1.2 server using imap, Outlook 2002 freezes. Actually the task manager shows it running but the busy (hour-glass) moude icon never stops.
Outlook-express 6 is ok and Pop3 is ok on either
Anyone else noticed this?

Speak to Microsoft (if you can afford it :-) Seriously, I can't think of any way that behaviour could be the server's fault.

We use Office XP Pro with all patches applied and I don't have the problem.
It must be something with your environment.
I have noticed that over a wide area network via IPSEC there can be delays caused by reverse ip address lookups. It does finally connect after a minute or so.
You could try to repair your office installation from the add/remove programs.

This is happening on all PC's - brand new Windows XP pro sp1 with Office XP pro on all of them. I did a fresh install of 5.1.2 and still can't create a mail account with the imap option - Outlook-express6 goes good
What is you OS steve?

We have two main standard loads.
1. Windows 98 with Office 2000 - latest patches on both 98 and office.
I have one of these pc's with Office xp pro installed
2. Windows XP with Office XP pro - latest patches for WinXP and OffXP
I am using 1 - SME5.0 server, 4 - SME5.1.2 servers and 1 - SME5.5 server.
All email clients are setup using Outlook (not express) making an IMAP connection to the mailbox.
You either have something wrong with your network setup, or there is something wrong with your IMAP connection setup on the PC. I guess it could also be something on your PC that is blocking the IMAP port...possibly firewall software.
