Title: Access configuration from console

For some reason after installation im logging in into the console.  how do i start the configuration? (esmith 5.5)

At console type:
/sbin/e-smith/console

i get bad interpreter - permission denied

using root

Perhaps you're interperter is bad?

I'm not sure why you're getting that error if you're root, I use that method quite often.  Oh well, the default shell for the 'admin' account should be /sbin/e-smith/console, so from console just:

su admin


If that fails to load the administrative console you have other problems.

ya..i keep getting permission denied for everything
i think my install is messed ..i am supposed to get into configuration automatically, coorect?

Yeah, I think your installation is hosed.  Had SME ever been installed on this machine before?

ya..played with chmod...gave it 777 and still i got denied

had sms 5.12 before..tried to upgrad - that failed
so i installed 5.5 full installation

I think you're hosed out the box.  Reinstall, clean.

reinstalling as we speak...
will return if the same thing reocurrs
