Title: I am Stupid FDISKED \
Post by: paul bearne on October 26, 2002, 12:26:07 AM
While tring to solve an quoter error I have deleted the \  and swap using fdisk ( got confused with disk names !! )

I have reboot the serve yet
I have backed up to the desktop
and made a new reinstall floppy disk

but before I reboot the sever is there a way of recreating the partitions so I don't to have to go for a reinstall

and will all the mod's I have made to the system still be there after the restore
ie stats,user access panel etc

I think you can go into fdisk and set your partitions to the same size they were and then run lilo to rebuild it's entries.
I have done this successfully under slacky but never under e-smith.

had a look up the web came up with Gdisk( guss disk) which found the partions and write them back

Have since rebooted OK

I still have the problem that started with

when rebooting

I get an error when mounting drives "/dev/sda1 type1 not suported by this kenal" ( well it was something like this)

I them get errors about the quota's for my user group's and a nightly email

Abody got any Ideas

I think /dev/sda1 is my swap file and is sown in fdisk as disk type swap
