Title: restrict groups of users ftp access to specific ibay
Post by: georges-louis tappy on October 29, 2002, 05:17:03 PM
hi,
I'm using sme-server v5.
when I create a group of users, and they log via ftp, they can read all the ibays on the server. I would like to restrict a group of users to access only to the defined ibay.
Can anybody help me with this ?
Thanx ,-)
Georges-Louis

Use FTP chroot user

http://www.dungog.net/sme/howto/chroot.php

works great under SME 5

Direct Download
http://www.dungog.net/sme/files/dungog-proftpd-chroot-0.1-1.noarch.rpm

If so, that is a bug, and should be reported to bugs@e-smith.org. They should only be able to view files in i-bays which are either publicly readable, or which are restricted to groups which they are members of. In other words, to restrict the files in the i-bays, change the i-bay settings to be as restricted as you need them to be.

http://www.dungog.net/sme/files/dungog-proftpd-chroot-0.1-1.noarch.rpm
as described in
http://www.dungog.net/sme/howto/chroot.php

I am using sme5.5u2

hi,
I'm also using sme5.5 update1.
It works. I did this way:
1. Install the browser based server manager devinfo-mitel-update-system.
then you get the possibility to install via webbrowser
2. Install the FTP chroot user end then you get the menuentry for dungog.net => FTP user root

Georges-Louis,

How exactly did you do this.

I have installed the 'e-smith-proftpd-chroot-0.0.1-01dc.noarch.rpm'. But still do not see any left margin menu-items regarding FTP and Which ibays they belong to.

Any help - and please be specific and clear in your answer.

Thnks

Morten
