Title: Windows VPN to SME
Post by: Craig on November 04, 2002, 05:14:20 PM
HI,
All of the HOWTO's seem to have instructions on how to install VPN between two SME boxes, or a SME box and another Sever for another network.

But how can I setup SME V5.5 so that I can VPN to it from any random Windows PC over the internet and then see my server and the shared folders?

Thanks Craig

Try taking a look at the manual: http://edocs.mitel.com/6000_SME_Server/smeserveruserguide/English/admin-remoteaccess.html#pptp

i am able to make the PPTP connection form Win98 to SME server, 128-bit dial-up connection update is needed for Win98.  But i was failed to make the connection when SME server was behind my broadband router.

What port should i open for the SME server PPTP connection?

Or should the SME server be placed in-front of the router and work as a gateway for the PPTP connection make success?

Not in front of the router, but instead of the router.
