Title: Getting the Hylafax Email to Fax gateway to work on 5.5

Has anyone had any joy getting Ewald van Gemert's "Email to fax gateway" to work on SME 5.5. I have tried several times now and can not get it to work. The HowTo is found here http://www.vangee.nl/sme/hylafax/
I have followed his instructions several times to the letter and had no joy and suspect it may be because it was tested on 5.1.2 and not 5.5. After a long time I eventually get an error in the faxuser's mail box as follows.

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at andyhouse.dyndns.org.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

/bin/sh: /etc/hylafax/etc/mailfax: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

It seems that /etc/hylafax/etc/mailfax isn't there? Did you check that?

Yes Jeroen /etc/hylafax/etc/mailfax is there as specified in /home/e-smith/files/users/faxuser/.qmail-default
although when i check the directory etc/hylafax/etc it shows up as ~etc  . I have changed the path in /home/e-smith/files/users/faxuser/.qmail-default to reflect this

the ~etc dir in /etc/hylafax is a symlink to

/var/spool/hylafax/etc

maybe you should copy your mailfax-script there ??

also if you use the FaxDispatch (pdf) he mentioned you need "metamail"
additionally.

Thanks for explaining that Jochen.I was confused about what the ~etc/ meant.   I have since worked out where I was going wrong so maybe I should have updated the forum. When I was creating the mailfax file I foolishly cut and pasted the webpage into a notepad document and used that. I believe that windows and linux use different cr and lf and so the file that I made would not work. I have since downloaded the file as a file and it has been installed into several sites where it works beautifully. The incoming faxes also are being delivered fine as pdf's now that I have put the faxgetty in initd. Yet again I have proved it's the smallest mistakes that cause the biggest headaches.

what really are the differences setup between this and http://www.star-support.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/hylafax/install_hylafax.bak?
