Title: FastTrak IDE Raid Controller
Post by: Steven on November 20, 2002, 03:29:24 PM
I would like to use the FastTrak IDE controller with e-smith server version 5.5.
is it possible at all.
All the Howto's and readme's I can find only talk about Red Hat 7.1 through 7.3
the kernel versions starting at 2.4.2-2 through 2.4.18-3 and e-smith runs on
kernel 2.2.19-7 , is anybody upgradeing this, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation
Steven

Hi, Steven
May I be alowed to pint you in a different direction ?

Look in this forum for a thread called "3ware monitoring utility".
I myself have given up on the Fast Trak 2000, and is looking at 3ware-controllers  instead. The pricing is not all that different.

greetings

Thanks Willy but this is an on board controller on an Intel Motherboard,
I guess it will have to be software raid for now ???
I'll have wait for e-smith to release with
the new kernel.

That will be an excellent idea.
My server has worked flawlessly for well over a year on various SME-versions with software-RAID activated.
I haven't yet experienced a harddrive-breakdown, though.
