Hi all,
Got a urgent question here;
- SME 5.1.2 - Server gateway - PDC - ADSL
- M$98 workstations
- No modifications
The network worked just fine for a few weeks. Now we notice 'lag' on the network.
It take a long time before files can be opened from the server and there are difficulties with printing. Also workstations have to reboot in order to continue.
In /var/log/samba/log.pcxxx this entry shows up for every PC:
lib/util_sock.c:matchname(955)
host name/name mismatch: pc-000xx != pc-000xx.server.domain
I'm looking at:
1. Samba related
2. a corrupt network device
Anybody has some hint's/tips/suggestions?
Thanks,
guestHH

I _just_ went through this yesterday. I had the exact same symptoms, SME version, and log errors as you did. My workstations were W2K.
A reboot of the server didn't help. However, a reboot of the server, the only printer, and the DLink DSS-16+ switch solved the problem.
I can't say what it was, but it after 24 hours, there's been no recurrence.
Good luck!

Thanks Bubba,
I restarted SMB and it seems te help a bit.. that is problems have not occurred since then (as I am told) _but_ I will update samba to 2.2.5 to be sure.
No follow-up posting here from me means no more problems after the samba update.
Thanks,
guestHH

As this was the first occurrence at this location, I'm not going to worry about it until a repeat. Upgrading Samba is a last resort for me, unless Mitel decides to issue an 5.1.2 update that includes it.

Ok, clear.
I'll repost the results after applaying the update (after weekend).
