Hello,
i have SME 5.5 running on box which is gateway and mail/file server
for a small company.
Problem is that mail for domain xxx.com is not arriving.
I have set MX record in DNS to IP of gateway and set the domain
on SME but no mail.
Has anyone had similiar problem ?

Who are you using to do the DNSing? Usually the IP A address within the DNS settings point to the external IP address, i.e. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx will resolve for your domain name. Also, is your IP static or dynamic. And MX records will usually read like mail.yourdomain.xxx resolves to www.yourdomain.xxx.
I use ZoneEdit.com to manage my DNS entries for my IP A adrress, and my MX records.
This is of course not the definitive DNS how to but may help.

In the server manager, there is a check box that says "deliver mail locally". If this is not checked, it will not allow you to receive mail.
