Title: ADSl
Post by: Simon on November 30, 2002, 06:11:04 AM
Hi all,

I have an ADSL connection that i use PPPoE to connect via, the problem i have is that i have been given a static IP address as well so how do i put that in. It only ask for User name and password in the system configuration. Is there a file i need to edit to add this in ?

Many of us have static IP's.  The  initial install should have taken you through the screens and asked whether to use a static or dhcp address.  From the server console, choose the option to configure this server and follow the prompts.  If you have your server set up to not display the graphical screen, then login as admin.

From the couple of times that I've set up PPOE connections for clients that have a static IP, the provider always supplies the same IP through the PPOE connection.  I've never had to provide the IP number in these situations.  Just put in the user and passwd.  You should see that you always get the same IP.

I gotcha.  I didn't read the post thoroughly enough.  I have a regular static IP that doesn't require me to use PPPoE for my connection.  Sorry to have wasted everyone's time on this.
